cpulimit software package provides tool for limiting the CPU usage of a process, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cpulimit
cpulimit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cpulimit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cpulimit *
You will get with cpulimit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
